Help me share my NEXT million words

(Paywall-free popularization like this is what I do for a living. To support me, see the end of this post)

We live in a digital age. We’d better understand for real how it works. All of us.

As of today, October 23rd, 2021, I have written and shared on this blog more than eight hundred thousand words towards that goal, in almost 1500 posts over fifteen years. Adding the hundreds of italian posts, it’s more than one million one hundred thousand words, in more than two thousand posts. All available at no charge, without any advertisement or tracking.

Why I do this, and why YOU may want me to continue

I do my best to keep this service going, at six posts per week, almost every week since 2019, because everybody’s rights and quality of life depend every year more on how digital technologies are used around us. Giving every brain the fuel, that is motivation, to think and act more on these topics is what the Stop is about:

This is why I write these news, explanations, commentary and proposals, and why I deliberately do it in the shortest and simplest possible format: to popularize all sorts of digital topics that matter, from the points of view that should matter.

You don’t have to agree with anything you find here! Again, what matters is to make everybody think. Here there are no turn-key solutions, absolute truths or stuff that most digital geeks can’t already fine elsewhere, in formats optmized for them.

This is a website geeks can pass to all their friends, families or coworkers, who still struggle to notice certain issues. This is a website with lots of easy, immediately shareable HINTS for pondering crucial issues like “digital” parenting, censorship, e-voting, Internet of Things, 5G, automation, smart cities, surveillance, open hardware, and many more:

Help me write the NEXT million words!

Providing this free, untracked public service takes a lot of time. If, like these people, you think such an effort is important for the public good, thanks in advance for supporting it with donations for any amount via BuyMeaCoffee, Paypal or LiberaPay. Transferwise or other methods are also possible, to arrange them please email me.

No money? NO problem! Thanks also for:

  • sharing this call and as many of my posts as you see fit, as much as you see fit
  • sending me your translation of any post here, in any language you want, to extend their reach
  • supporting and promoting my other work

Who writes this, why, and how to help

I am Marco Fioretti, tech writer and aspiring polymath doing human-digital research and popularization.
I do it because YOUR civil rights and the quality of YOUR life depend every year more on how software is used AROUND you.

To this end, I have already shared more than a million words on this blog, without any paywall or user tracking, and am sharing the next million through a newsletter, also without any paywall.

The more direct support I get, the more I can continue to inform for free parents, teachers, decision makers, and everybody else who should know more stuff like this. You can support me with paid subscriptions to my newsletter, donations via PayPal (mfioretti@nexaima.net) or LiberaPay, or in any of the other ways listed here.THANKS for your support!
